Union Hills Water Treatment Plant Rehabilitation
Phoenix, Arizona
Kiewit replaced and upgraded half of the water treatment plant’s 5-kilovolt electrical feed, including construction of a new electrical building expansion and ductbank installation among numerous existing utilities. New electrical switchgear and motor control equipment were furnished to upgrade the plant’s finished water pump systems.
In conjunction with the electrical upgrades, demolition and replacement of the finished water pump station, Zone 4 108-inch header and associated large-diameter valving was completed under a 12-week shutdown window. More than 25 individual maintenance of plant operations involving complete or partial plant shutdowns were developed and executed through a coordinated effort with city and plant staff.
