vivaNext D1 - Newmarket, Ontario
A world class public transit system is the vision of our client, vivaNext - D1 Project is a segment within this grand vision overlapping the vision of the town of Newmarket to turn Davis Drive into an attractive urban destination to work, dine, relax, live and shop.
This design-build project is 3.3 kilometre widening of Davis Drive in Newmarket's business core to add two dedicated center bus lanes in the corridor as rapidway. The work in this tight corridor includes design and construction of a new boulevard, road widening, a number of retaining walls, box culverts extension, bridge replacement and railway crossing widening. The project includes construction of three bus stations at main intersections along the corridor. Each station consists of two platforms to serve westbound and eastbound buses.
Upon completion, the rapidway will immediately make it easier for staff, patients, visitors and volunteers of the Southlake Regional Health Centre to get to the hospital and its new state-of-the-art cancer centre. Because the rapidway will include urban design elements such as pedestrian-friendly boulevards and green, open spaces, Davis Drive will become an inviting environment for new development. Over time, Davis Drive will become an attractive urban destination to work, dine, relax, live and shop.
