Mission Valley East LRT - San Diego, Calif.
This $27 million project involved procuring, furnishing, installing and testing continuously welded rail and special trackwork on ballasted, direct fixation and embedded trackway. Crews designed, furnished, installed, reconfigured and tested the 6.7-mile overhead traction power system, six traction power substations, railroad block signaling system and equipment and various communications systems.
The various communication systems that were designed, furnished, installed, reconfigured and tested include train-to-wayside communications; visual messaging; public address; video surveillance; radio communications; telephone; a supervisory control and date acquisition; fire/life/safety; interfaces to fare collection systems; and preparation and performance of integrated systems testing plans, procedures and tests.
Additional work involved constructing retaining walls, concrete work, at-grade railroad crossings, paving, civil improvements, and demolishing and removing existing facilities.
