The I-225 Rail Line is a $350 million project to design and build 10.5 miles of light rail line in Denver and Aurora, Colorado. The line will connect RTD’s Nine Mile Station, built by Kiewit as part of the T-REX project, with the planned Peoria/Smith Station.
Kiewit Infrastructure West Co. (KIWC) was selected by the Alaska Railroad Corporation (ARRC) to provide Preconstruction Services for this CMGC project in Salcha, AK. The project calls for a 3,300 foot long steel bridge that crosses the Tanana River in addition to 300,000 cubic yards of riprap and 11,000 feet of levee along river’s eastern bank.
The Union Station Transit Improvement Project is transforming Denver's historic Union Station into a regional multi-modal transportation hub. The 19.5 acre, $374 million project is located in downtown Denver and includes an underground bus terminal (23 FT below grade) containing 22 bus slips; 40,000-square-foot underground passenger concourse; eight-track commuter rail station; and the relocation of the existing light rail station.
In December 2008, Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) selected Kiewit, Stacy & Witbeck, Reyes, Parsons (KSWRP), a joint venture, to design and construct the approximately nine-mile, six station LTR from Bachman Station on the Green Line in northwest Dallas to Belt Line Road, located south of DFW Airport.
This $19.6 million project included 120,000 CY of excavation and construction of nearly 90,000 TF of interchange, siding, and yard tracks spread between four project sites across 60 miles of West Texas for the Union Pacific Railroad.
The $97 million Draper Light Rail Extension extends from the end of the existing North-South TRAX Line in Sandy, Utah southeast to the vicinity of the city hall in Draper, Utah. The project consists of 3.7 miles of ballasted double track and three stations with park and ride lots.
In October 2007, the Utah Transit Authority selected the Kiewit-led joint venture (including JV Partners Herzog and Parsons) to design and construct the $272 million Mid-Jordan Light Rail Extension Design-Build Project. The project was an extension of the existing North-South TRAX Line into the city of West Jordan, Utah and terminating in Kennecott’s Daybreak development in South Jordan, Utah.
The BART Warm Springs Extension DB project consists of furnishing all management, coordination, professional services, labor, equipment, materials and other services to perform the design and construction of the line, track, station and systems required to extend the BART System further into southern Alameda County from the existing Fremont BART Station to the new Warm Springs Station.
This $503 million design-build project was awarded to Foothill Transit Constructors, a joint venture between Kiewit and Parsons. The project includes final design and construction of 11.5-miles of double light rail main track, 14 new bridges, eight modifications to existing bridges, six stations, three center platforms, three side platforms and a maintenance and operations facility.
As part of the extension of the Montreal metro to Laval, the Agence Métropolitaine de Transport awarded a $35.5 million contract for track and switchgear installation to a Kiewit-led partnership. Crews completed the work in 16 months, two months ahead of schedule.
