Chaudiere Bridge Rehabilitation - Lévis, Québec
The Chaudiere Bridge is located on Highway 20 East near Levis, Québec and spans the Chaudiere River. The work for this $13.5 million contract was performed by Kiewit in four distinct phases between July 2004 and June 2007. Construction included widening the eastbound side of the bridge. A new support arch was added to create enough room for another traffic lane. Work concluded with the rehabilitation and resurfacing of the existing 132-metre structure.
Crews performed 1,500 cubic metres of general excavation; poured 3,000 cubic metres of concrete; demolished 1,200 cubic metres of concrete; constructed 350,000 kilograms of framework; and placed 13,350 tonnes of structural steel.
