Transmission Line Rebuild
Location, Confidential
To improve transmission reliability, Kiewit upgraded existing 69-kilovolt transmission lines to 138-kilovolt standards. The rebuilt lines included steel pole structure-for-structure replacements to comply with easement limitations.
The team engineered, procured and constructed the rebuild of over 65 miles of transmission lines across several counties. The scope also included replacing an energized switch structure and negotiating over 125 right-of-way acquisitions.
Post award, owner-requested changes reduced outage windows by 69 days and to maintain the original schedule milestones, Kiewit resequenced the work, updated execution plans and successfully completed the project within the revised outage windows.
