St. Joseph’s Abbey Solar Farm
Spencer, Massachusetts
Kiewit subsidiary, Mass. Electric, constructed a 20-megawatt solar farm on sloping terrain across 200 acres of the historic St. Joseph’s Abbey, a community that is home to a group of Cistercian Trappist Monks, which benefits from the additional revenue generated through the leasing of the land.
The project was broken into 10 segments that included interconnections, metering setups and group-operated air-break switch installations for each area. Major scopes included the installation of more than sixty thousand 325- and 330-watt solar panels, an inverter, a TF2 fixed-tilt ground-mounted racking system and a 20-megawatt DC system.
