Southeast Connector
Fort Worth, Texas
The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has awarded a design-build project in southeast Tarrant County to a Kiewit-led joint venture. This project involves rebuilding and widening approximately 16 miles of I-20, I-820 and US 287, as well as reconstructing three interchanges on some of the state’s most congested roads which handle up to 250,000 vehicles daily. The objectives set by TxDOT include minimizing delays for the traveling public and maximizing safety during construction. This project is crucial not only for Tarrant County and Fort Worth but also for facilitating trade, enhancing safety, and improving efficiency across the entire Metroplex.
Kiewit is collaborating with TxDOT and other stakeholders to implement smart work zone technologies and equipment. These innovations aim to improve work zone awareness for motorists and provide clear timely updates about road conditions and travel delays, allowing drivers to adjust their routes and schedules to minimize travel time.
