Redmond Technology Station (RTS) Pedestrian Bridge
Redmond, Washington
The Redmond Technology Station (RTS) Pedestrian Bridge is a multi-use pathway designed to provide safe and efficient access across SR 520, connecting the Redmond Technology Station with businesses, transit facilities and city streets on both sides of the highway. Spanning approximately 1,200 linear feet, the bridge enhances multimodal transportation by integrating pedestrian and bicycle paths with regional transit services.
Kiewit constructed the main bridge, which covers 48,000 square feet with a width varying between 30 and 50 feet. The bridge features drilled shafts, concrete columns and caps, concrete wide flange and tub girders, a mix of pre-cast panels and cast-in-place deck and concrete barrier walls. Designed with the future in mind, the structure is built to accommodate potential expansion and additional projects in the area.
A separate 250-linear-foot direct access ramp connects the pedestrian bridge to the SR 520 Bus “Flyerstop” and Sound Transit’s RTS light rail station. This 12-foot-wide ramp consists of a concrete foundation, variable-size square concrete columns, pre-cast deck panels and a lighted pathway to improve accessibility for transit users.
The RTS Pedestrian Bridge enhances connectivity for thousands of daily users while promoting sustainable transportation options and supporting future regional growth and mobility improvements.
