Kiewit developed a1.6 MW battery energy storage system (BESS) located in Kauai, Hawaii. Project scope included site design and system interconnection. The Kiewit team worked with the battery and PCS OEMs to streamline integration efforts ensuring adequacy of the overall design and that safety requirements of the local codes were met. Factory Acceptance Testing of the battery was performed at the PCS OEMs facility prior to shipment to site.
Mass. Electric Construction Co (MEC) installed an 880 KW roof mounted PV system on the Waltham High School in Massachusetts. The scope of work included PV modules- 3080 each LG250 mods; inverters 2 each- Solaron 333kW; an Hb Solar Mounting System (100% ballasted) including ballast; Solar BOS fused Combiner Boxes; Data Acquisition System (DAS); and (8) 200A rated Fusible DC Disconnect.
Mass. Electric Construction Co (MEC), partnered with Cypress Creek Renewables (CCR) to construct a 97 ME Solar Farm in Forest City, North Carolina. The 489-acre solar farm is expected to power more than 11,000 homes in Rutherford County. MEC was selected as the preferred contractor for our excellent safety and quality performance, as well as reputation for helping other solar developers across the country meet fast-track installation schedules.
Mass. Electric Construction Co (MEC) installed one of the largest community solar projects in Massachusetts. Situated on 200 acres of the historic St. Joseph’s Abbey, the Spencer Community Solar Farm is 100% subscribed with a rating capacity of 14.7 MW (AC). This installation is comprised of more than 61,000 solar photovoltaic panels powering 1,500 local homes.
A Kiewit-led partnership completed its last phase of a six year contract with Cartier Wind Energy by erecting the last of a total of 354 GE 1.5MW SLE windmills, scattered throughout 4 different wind farms in the Gaspésie region: Baie-des-Sables, Anse-Ã -Valleau, Carleton and Gros-Morne.
The Lower Mattagami River Project is an investment into clean, renewable energy. It is the largest hydroelectric power generation initiative in nearly 40 years in Northern Ontario. Ontario Power Generation (OPG) selected Kiewit-Alarie, a Partnership (KAP) to administer the design-build project on the Mattagami River
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) awarded Kiewit-Alarie, a Partnership (KAP), the design-build contract for the redevelopment of the Wawaitin, Sandy Falls and Lower Sturgeon hydroelectric Generating Stations (GS) on the Upper Mattagami River and the Hound Chute GS on the Montreal River.
A Kiewit-led joint venture completed the civil, mechanical and electrical design and construction of this $28.4 million 50-megawatt (MW) powerhouse. Throughout construction, the team emphasized the need to work toward a common goal by holding partnering sessions with project participants.
This 50-megawatt (MW) hydroelectric plant produces a non-consumptive, non-polluting and renewable form of energy for some 7,000 households. Built under an engineer-procure-construct contract, Kiewit completed the project with minimal impacts to the surrounding landscape.
To decrease the cost of hydroelectric power and increase the demand for service, Kiewit completed this bid-build contract to expand the Healey Falls Generating Station. Located about 15 kilometers north of Campbellford, the generating station includes a new unit in a spare bay inside the existing hydroelectric power plant once complete.
