Paradise Combined-Cycle Plant

Drakesboro, Kentucky

As part of Tennessee Valley Authority’s commitment to expand fuel diversity, Kiewit was contracted to replace the company’s two oldest coal-fired units at the Paradise Fossil Plant with a 1,100-megawatt natural gas-fired facility.

Kiewit engineered, procured and constructed the 3×1 combined-cycle plant featuring three GE 7FA.05 combustion turbines, three triple-pressure Vogt heat-recovery steam generators and a Toshiba dual flow-down exhaust steam turbine. The facility can operate in 1×1, 2×1 or 3×1 mode or operate in a simple cycle. The Paradise Combined-Cycle Plant is the most efficient gas plant in Tennessee Valley Authority’s fleet.

Won POWER Magazine’s Top Plant Award.
