Piney Creek Solar Substation and Interconnect

Installation of a new 34.5/230kV collector substation for interconnection was included in the engineering, procurement and construction of a 80 MWac solar facility. Scope included three 34.5kV vacuum circuit breakers, one 13MVAR GE capacitor bank, one 34.5kV gang operated disconnect, one station service transformer, 22 hook-stick disconnects, one 230kV Siemens SF6-filled circuit breaker and one 230kV motor operated disconnect. Additional scope included installing associated foundations, supporting steel, insulators/surge arrestors, bus, cable trench, grounding, conduit, SCADA communications, LV cable and overhead AAC/ACSR 795 jumpers to connect the equipment.
