Phoenix Sky Harbor Barry M. Goldwater Terminal 4
Phoenix, Arizona
The expansion of the Sky Harbor International Airport Terminal 4 Parking Garage includes two levels of parking above the existing garage, and the addition of six levels of parking on both the North and South sides of the existing garage. The existing elevators, stairs, and helix ramps were also extended two additional levels.
This $87 million project added 3,600 parking spaces and 1.5 million SF to the existing garage, along with new access roadways and new pedestrian access ramps. Kiewit built the original 1.6 million SF, $99 million Terminal 4 project in 1990, which included 400,000 SF of passenger facilities and parking for 4,000 cars.
The new terminal expansion utilizes the same award winning “Y” column design as the original terminal. The unique 185-ton “Y” columns are being cast onsite by Kiewit forces.
The Kiewit team earned an early completion bonus for finishing the project 72 days early. Terminal 4 currently handles 15 million passengers annually.
