Ottawa LRT Stage 2

In April 2019, Kiewit, as part of the East-West Connectors consortium was awarded the Ottawa Stage 2 LRT Project, through a DBF contract model. Kiewit and Vinci completed construction and design engineering services were provided by WSP Canada Inc. and Hatch Ltd.
The project includes a new 27 km LRT extension of the Confederation Line (West Extension 14.5 km, East Extension 12.5 km) with 16 new stations (West Extension 11 Stations, East Extension 5 Stations), an LMSF. Additional scope includes 3.4 km of cut and cover tunnels and significant highway widening and structures scope.
Specific scope details includes:
- East extension: Track 25,000 TM (DF in tunnels, ballast in at-grade/bridges); 5 Stations; TPSS; 3 new, 2 replacements, 1 removal and 7 modifications of bridges; 1 new and 1 modification of pedestrian bridges; 1 replacement and 1 modification of major culverts; miscellaneous roadworks and utility work.
- West extension: Track 29,000 TM (DF in tunnels, ballast in at-grade/bridges); 11 Stations; TPSS; 1 LMSF; 3 cut and cover tunnels (each 3,400m); depressed guideway/rock walls (2,450m); 8 new, 1 replacement, X removal and 10 modifications of bridges; 5 new, 2 replacement and 2 modifications to of pedestrian bridges; 3 new, 2 replacements, 1 removal and 3 modifications of major culverts; miscellaneous roadworks; utility works; stormwater facility work.
