Kearl Oil Sands Project - Fort McMurray, Alta.
Kiewit provided all the labor, construction equipment and bulk materials to build the Froth Treatment Facility and Flare Silo for this major oil sands project, which is part of an 110,000 barrels per day oil sands mine. Kiewit’s module facility constructed and delivered 186 pipe rack and equipment modules to the project. Site construction included installation of piling, concrete foundations, structural steel, modules, tagged equipment, vessels, piping, electrical and instrumentation.
Kiewit is currently performing work on the expansion phase, which will add 110,000 barrels per day of bitumen production. Kiewit’s module fabrication scope includes 330 (pipe rack, process, e-house and stair) modules. Large modules are 20 feet high, 20 feet wide and 80 feet long. Work includes structural steel, piping, electrical and insulation. Sitework scope includes all disciplines from the piles up (civil, structural steel, piping, E&I, insulation) and includes procurement of all bulk materials for both site and modules.
