Northampton Solar Farm
Northampton, Massachusetts
Seeing the opportunity to bring green energy and financial savings to the residents of Northampton, Con Edison Solutions turned an abandoned, 50-acre quarry into a community solar site where Kiewit designed and installed a 4.3-megawatt ground mount solar array and a 2.3-megawatt battery energy storage system.
The scope included extensive site work, mass grading and the installation of nearly 17,000 Jinko photovoltaic solar panels on RBI fixed-tilt ground mounts. The work also included a half-mile, 13.8-kilovolt overhead service line that required separate cables for the solar array feed to the utility, and from the battery energy storage system to the utility.
