New Jersey Wind Port Demolition & Dredging
Salem County, New Jersey
Kiewit Corporation subsidiary Weeks Marine, Inc. was contracted to support the demolition and dredging scopes to prepare for construction of the first purpose-built wind port on the East Coast.
Weeks demolished an existing timber bulkhead, extracted 810 timber piles and removed 16,000 tons of riprap, stockpiling it on site for future use. The team was also contracted to dig out the new berth dock area and remove the material — dredging approximately 165,000 pay yards of sediment — to enable concrete pile installation for the new wharf.
The team used the Weeks 551 clamshell dredge and the Weeks 320 unloader to pump the material from the scows to the upland disposal area.
