Milwaukee Streetcar
Milwaukee, Wisconsin
The Milwaukee Streetcar, a starter streetcar system with modern vehicle technology, circulates people around downtown, links downtown destinations, activity centers, neighborhoods and supports planned development. The initial starter system (Phase 1) stretches 2.5 miles across the city, connecting the Milwaukee Intermodal Station, acting as a hub for 1.4 million bus and train passengers annually, and the dense housing on the lower east side, providing service to many residential, commercial, employment, parking and hotel destinations.
Kiewit built a 16,000-square-foot operations and maintenance facility (OMF), associated yard improvements, 17 platform stops and 4.2 miles of embedded 112 TRAM rail. Three traction power substations feed the overhead contact system.
