Mauldin Road Wastewater Treatment Plant Modifications

Greenville, South Carolina

Kiewit subsidiary, Western Summit, was contracted to increase the capacity of the wastewater treatment plant from 29 to 70 million gallons per day. The scope included installation of new process equipment and converting a daily equalization basin into a bioreactor with additional cast-in-place walls, mixers and pumps.

Facilities were constructed to contain effluent filters, ultraviolet disinfection and chemical feed pumping systems, a lime silo, a bulk storage tank and a sidestream treatment unit. A new station in the existing headworks building handles septage and grease, and a scum-receiving station and new pumps and piping were added to the anaerobic digester facilities.
