Houston Metro Phase II LRT Systems
Houston, Texas
The Houston METRO Light Rail Expansion project is part of a comprehensive plan developed by the Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County (METRO). This plan, supported by the residents of the Greater Houston region and completed in June of 2016, was a collective effort between METRO’s regional transportation partners and mobility experts from across the nation. Currently, three new light rail lines (North, East and Southeast Corridor lines), serve to meet Houston’s transportation and environmental challenges, ease its traffic congestion, and improve its air quality. Parsons was responsible for the overall design and program management, leading the Design Build Joint Venture with Granite, Kiewit and Stacy and Witbeck. The North and Southeast Corridor lines obtained $900 Million in Federal Funds through the FTA New Starts grants.
