Fairview Energy Center
Johnstown, Pennsylvania
Kiewit engineered, procured and constructed this 1,050-megawatt, natural gas-fired 2×1 combined-cycle plant. The facility features two GE 7HA.02 combustion turbine generators, two heat recovery steam generators and a steam turbine. The switchyard was also included in our scope of work.
Located on a remediated brownfield site, the modernized project improves reliability, reduces the environmental footprint and provides both local and regional economic benefits. The new plant is one of the cleanest electric generators in Pennsylvania and the only facility of its scale globally with ethane and natural gas blending capabilities.
The facility is roughly 30% more efficient than plants with conventional technologies and generates enough electricity to power more than one million homes.
