Denver International Airport Hotel & Transit Program
Denver, Colorado
Kiewit provided enabling construction projects for the Denver International Airport new Hotel and Transit Program, which features a new train station for commuter rail lines and a new high rise, 500-room hotel. The project consisted of preconstruction and construction for the following: 1,200,000 yards of excavation, extensive utility relocations, multiple bridge demolitions, roadway relocation, temporary construction office tenant improvements and the relocation of the main roof anchor system.
Surrounded by the daily activity of the nation’s fifth-busiest airport, Kiewit managed the extensive utility relocation of many primary feeds to the entire airport. The vast array of utilities and sequencing of adjacent work created an elaborate phasing scheme to minimize any impact to the operations of DIA.
The nation’s 5th busiest airport was 100% operational for 145,000 air travelers everyday
