Copperhead Solar Substation and Interconnect
Confidential Location, Texas
As part of the engineering, procurement and construction of a 734-acre solar array field, the project team constructed a 34.5/138kV collector substation. Two transformers step up the voltage to 138kV and are connected to the point of interconnection via rigid bus. The medium voltage collector system consists of two rigid buses with risers and provisions for incoming underground feeders, as well as two capacitor banks. Protection and control of the substation are housed within a prefabricated control house, along with a DC system.
