The Cobra Castor Living Quarters project is a 9,500-square-foot structure built to accommodate 15 workers and includes administrative, dining and rest areas. The three-level structure weighs 700 tons and includes an elevated heli-deck. Kiewit delivered the project under an Engineer, Procure and Construct contract.
In May of 2010, as part of the IOC's expansion program, Kiewit was awarded the contract to provide concrete construction and roadway services for Iron Ore Company's Labrador Mine new Parallel Ore Delivery System (PODS).
The Nebraska Furniture Mart Distribution Center is a state-of-the-art warehouse and distribution center with a high-speed racking system that allows employees to fill 600 customer orders an hour. This project enclosed 511,000 square feet, approximately 12 acres, under one roof. A perimeter mezzanine added approximately 100,000 square feet of office space, furniture assembly, mechanical space and storage to the project for a total finished floor space of 611,000 square feet, or approximately 14 acres.
The Caterpillar CLAAS manufacturing facility contains a 165,000-square-foot assembly area and 35,000 square feet of office space. The facility is a pre-fabricated metal building with precast concrete exterior that allows an abundance of natural light into the assembly area through north facing glazing. The roof is constructed of standing seam metal and is configured to allow for no interior roof drains or downspouts. The product display area contains a full height curtain wall system to maximize the views of products at night.
