Kiewit has more than 40 years of experience in developing renewable power projects including wind, solar, geothermal and hydroelectric. Today, these alternative generation sources are more viable and cost effective than ever before, and our innovation-minded approach to project development positions us well to support this growing market. We work with developers, independent power producers (IPPs) and utilities through a variety of project delivery methods, including EPC, to suit the individual needs of each client and project.
Solar
Our teams have completed more than 50 North American solar projects in the last 15 years. Our experience in solar power systems includes photovoltaic (PV) projects ranging from 2 MW to over 650 MW, as well as associated battery storage solutions. We also bring decades of experience in electric power generation, transmission and distribution, allowing us to support solar projects of any size or complexity.
Offshore Wind
As Engineering News-Record’s top contractor in offshore and underwater facilities for the last six years, Kiewit understands the inherent challenges and rapidly advancing technologies of the growing offshore wind market. We have experience in offshore wind and related infrastructure projects including port evaluations and front-end engineering and design (FEED).
We offer front-end engineering and consulting, expansive fabrication capabilities, expertise in substations and submarine transmission systems, and a record of successful completion of more than 150 marine and port facility projects over the last decade. With local presences on the west, east and gulf coasts, Kiewit offers solutions for fixed-bottom and floating offshore wind projects anywhere in North America. Our design, fabrication and construction professionals have the knowledge and skills to deliver your offshore wind project on time and within budget.
Hydroelectric
Our experience includes some of the largest facilities in North America, with capabilities including powerhouse structures; turbine and penstock installations; water distribution systems; and the electrical, transmission and major civil work associated with infrastructure development.
Geothermal
Beginning with geothermal projects in California and Nevada in the early 1980s, Kiewit has been involved in nearly early every major geothermal project in the United States since that time, in addition to several international projects.
