Positioned comfortably in a historic section of South Omaha, the Salvation Army Ray & Joan Kroc Corps Community Center is a $29 million facility which includes a fitness center, a gymnasium and aquatic, education and family services centers. The six-city-block facility employs more than 40 full-time, year-round employees and more than 40 part-time employees.
In June 1996, a Kiewit joint venture was awarded a $350 million contract for the $571 million, 47,000-seat Safeco Field – home of major league baseball's Seattle Mariners. This 37-month project involved constructing the 11,000-ton retractable roof, more than 1,000 parking spaces, and additional site work.
Creighton University is the only university in the nation with a soccer-only stadium. In August 2002, the $12 million project was initiated and became part of Creighton University's master plan to expand its campus infrastructure. Early involvement and collaboration among the entire project team resulted in cost and schedule savings. The stadium was completed November 2004 - just in time for the Creighton Bluejays to host the Missouri Valley Conference championship tournament.
The Lorikeet Adventure and the Avian Propagation Center was a $6 million project for the Denver Zoo. The Lorikeet Adventure has a 3,500-square-foot open-air walkthrough aviary to see the lorikeets up close and the Avian Propagation Center is one of the largest of its kind in the country to date.
The Pacific Aviation Museum is one of the country's leading aviation museums and the only one dedicated to the freedom of the Pacific. The 42,000-square-foot museum houses several fighter planes, a simulated flight game and 200-seat theatre.
The Homestead Motorsports Complex consists of a 1.5-mile quad oval track, 2.2-mile infield road course track and five infield building structures. The $31 million project was built on a 350-acre site and was completed in time for the inaugural NASCAR race in November 1995.
Work on this $6 million contract for the Pac Bell Ball Park, home to Major League Baseball's San Francisco Giants, included driving concrete pilings and marine construction of a port walk and ferry landing.
The $71 million Washington State Convention and Trade Center expansion included construction of a new 370,000-square-foot, structural steel, precast clad building. The new expansion contributed 156,000 square feet of additional convention space and 95,000 square feet of enclosed space for the future Museum of History & Industry. The building is connected to a new hotel and parking structure by over street walkways with enclosed skylight roof systems and a barrel arch canopy.
Home to the Mesa State Mavericks college football team, Stocker Stadium in Grand Junction, Colo. is the most highly used field on the Western Slope, hosting as many as four football games a weekend. Kiewit also constructed new high hump, long jump and triple jump areas with polyurethane track to complete the facility.
The CenturyLink Convention Center and Arena provides space for a range of activities including hockey, basketball, concerts and formal events. This $187 million project included building a 490,000-square-foot convention center and a 450,000-square-foot arena. The CenturyLink Convention Center and Arena also includes a 194,000-square-foot exhibit hall; 30,000-square-foot ballroom; 42,500-square-foot atrium; 10,000-square-foot kitchen; meeting rooms and breakout areas. It covers approximately 422 acres, equivalent to 100 city blocks.
