Wheeler UEPH Barracks
Wahiawa, Hawaii
This project is a $45.9 million Design-Build project for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, located at Wheeler Army Airfield. The project, which is designed to LEED Silver standards, consists of two three-story Unaccompanied Enlisted Personnel Housing (UEPH) buildings, Central Plant, motorcycle shed, trash/recycling enclosure and an off-site drain line. Construction of the Wheeler UEPH Barracks Phase 6B project started in October 2010 with a completion date of November 2012.
Both UEPH buildings are made up of CMU walls with concrete slabs that are designed to meet Anti-Terrorism Force Protection standards. The road on the south end of the project required reconstruction after the installation of the off-site drain line. On the north side of the project, Wright Avenue was also reconstructed for additional utility installations. The off-site drain line, which is a 72-inch storm drain line that progresses to an 84-inch drain line, runs from the south side of the project site to the outfall approximately one mile away.
