South Pass 89E Expansion
Ingleside, Texas
Kiewit performed the front-end engineering design, engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning of the South Pass 89E Expansion platform at its yard in Ingleside, Texas. This offshore platform serves as a tie-in point for an existing pipeline system, moving crude oil from the Appomattox platform in the Gulf of Mexico to the existing Proteus pipeline system in South Pass Block 89E.
The scope of work included the fabrication of a 6,500-ton topsides; a two-level, 12-person living quarters; a 4,500-ton jacket and 2,000 tons of piles. Additionally, detailed engineering was performed to strengthen the existing platform to receive the bridge structure from the new greenfield platform, including the removal of the helideck and crane swap on the existing platform.
The topsides, jackets and piles were lifted by Kiewit’s Heavy Lifting Device in Ingleside, Texas, which has a lift capacity of 13,000 tons.
