Rutherford 97 MW Solar Farm
Forest City, North Carolina
Kiewit subsidiary, MEC, constructed this 74-megawatt photovoltaic-solar facility in Rutherford County, North Carolina. The 489-acre farm generates enough electricity to power over 11,000 homes.
The scope included the installation of over 289,000 fixed-tilt solar panels, 225,000 feet of conduit, 4,200,000 feet of low-voltage alternating current cable, 619 combiner boxes and 34 inverters.
To meet Southern Power’s in-service commitments, MEC executed the project under a tight schedule through continued coordination with trades and the rigorous management of client-furnished material deliveries.
