The Kiewit team will engineer, procure and construct the 800-megawatt natural gas-fired power plant with four 200-megawatt simple cycle units. Project equipment includes four Siemens 5000F(4) combustion turbines, four emissions control systems complete with selective catalytic reduction (SCR) and oxidation catalysts, exhaust gas-tempering air fan systems, three fuel gas compressors and balance of plant equipment.
Millcreek Generation Facility, originally completed in 2006, serves thousands of homes and businesses in southwest Utah. Successfully completed in spring 2010, the 45-megawatt expansion is needed to fulfill heightened demand during summer months for the growing population of the southwest United States.
The Neal Energy Center Environmental Retrofit Project consists of the installation of two dry scrubber spray dryer absorbers and two pulse jet fabric filters each for Unit 3 (515 MW nominal) and Unit 4 (644 MW nominal) of the plant.
A Kiewit-led joint venture was awarded the contract to engineer, procure, construct, startup and test a 660-megawatt coal-fired power plant. The new plant at Nebraska City more than doubles the current power output at the original facility that was built in the 1970s.
Located 20 minutes from Niagara Falls and just west of Lake Ontario, the Thorold Cogeneration Project is a 265-megawatt combined cycle cogeneration facility that will provide power to more than 100,000 Ontario homes, businesses and provides both steam and power to the existing Abitibi Bowater Paper Mill.
Kiewit Power Engineers, as a subcontract to TIC – The Industrial Company, was awarded the contract to engineer the physical layout and detailed design of a power plant switchyard and interface it to the utility.
