The Kiewit team provided detailed design, procurement and performance testing (to be concluded upon owner completion of startup and commissioning) for the 25-megawatt steam cogeneration power plant. When fully operational, the project will provide the additional steam and power capacity required to operate the new low sulfur gas production unit in the Hovensa oil refinery.
The Kiewit team was awarded the contract to construct a portion of the new 900-megawatt coal-fired power plant and a portion of upgrades to the existing Unit 1.
The Kiewit team is providing general construction services for the 880-mega- watt combined cycle power plant with three GE 7FA.04 combustion turbines. Other project equipment includes three Nooter-Eriksen triple pressure heat recovery steam generators with duct firing on natural gas, a Toshiba steam turbine and four ABB generator step-up transformers.
The La Cygne Generating Station Environmental Retrofit Project includes the installation of two Hitachi wet FGD scrubbers and new fabric filters on Unit 1 and Unit 2; and a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system, low- NOx burners and over-fire air system on Unit 2 of the facility.
The Kiewit Power Engineers and TIC – The Industrial Company team was awarded the contract for all design, engineering, engineered equipment procurement, construction, startup and performance testing services for the 300-megawatt nominal natural gas-fired combined cycle power plant.
The Louisa Scrubber and Baghouse Project, the first project of its kind for Kiewit, provided a fully integrated air quality control system facility for the Louisa Generating Station. The short completion schedule set forth by the owner required a disciplined coordination effort among the team to finish on time. The project has since served as a benchmark for quality and owner satisfaction for similar projects.
