The All-American Canal Lining project is located 20 miles west of Yuma, Arizona in the southeast corner of California. Kiewit Pacific Co. is constructing 12.4 miles of new concrete-lined canal through Glamis sand dunes to replace the existing unlined canal at the same elevation as the existing canal.
Kiewit Pacific Co. was awarded the $91 million project to construct the Brightwater Influent Pump Station and associated facilities. When complete the pump station will be a 130-million-gallons-per-day influent station that can expand to 170 million gallons per day.
As the largest project ever awarded by the Georgia Water & Sewer Authority of Cobb County, the $114 million Chattahoochee Tunnel, located just northwest of Atlanta, will supplement the current sewage system. The scope of work includes excavating a 49,600-ft.-long tunnel 100- to 350-ft deep, excavating two construction shafts and a pump station, and constructing four intake structures.
Protecting the quality of an active drinking water reservoir was of the highest priority during this C$17 million project to excavate material for the construction of slurry cutoff wall. An extensive pumping and settling pond system was developed by Peter Kiewit Sons to divert and treat contaminated water and prevent entry into the reservoir.
General Construction Company, a subsidiary of Kiewit Corporation, is constructing a spillwall in the stilling basin between Bays 8 and 9 at the Dalles Dam Spillway on the Columbia River.
Awarded to Kiewit Construction Company, the $3.4 billion Dulles West Utility Building project involved constructing an underground utility building and installing utility piping from the new building to Terminal B at Dulles International Airport. From a 325-foot cut–and–cover box structure, a 1,070-foot tunnel was excavated using New Austrian Tunneling Method techniques.
