Tacoma Narrows Bridge – Tacoma, WA
The $615 million Tacoma Narrows Bridge is the first long-span suspension bridge to be constructed in the United States since 1964. Scheduled for completion in early 2008, the new 5,413-ft.-long bridge will include a high occupancy vehicle traffic lane, a separated bicycle/pedestrian walkway, an 8,000-sq.-ft. toll plaza building, and configurations for a future secondary roadway or transit deck.
Glenn-Parks Interchange – Wasilla, AK
The renovated Glenn-Parks Interchange provides safer road conditions and less congestion for a growing number of commuters. The $46.9 million design-build contract was completed in November 2004 and included unique wetlands conservation and restoration measures to protect Alaska’s delicate ecosystem.
I-25 T-REX Project – Denver, CO
The $1.3 billion T-REX Project is the largest transportation contract in Colorado history. Designed and built by a Kiewit-led joint venture, this landmark project includes improvements to 17 mi. of I-25 and I-225 and construction of 19 mi. of transit lines. Additional work involves reconstruction of interchanges and bridges, a new drainage system and improved pedestrian and bicycle access.
Whittier Access Tunnel – Portage, AK
In 1998, Kiewit Construction Company, a subsidiary of Kiewit corporation began work on the $60 million project, Alaska’s first design-build transportation project. Kiewit crews converted the existing 2.6-mi.-long tunnel from rail-only to a joint-use rail/auto tunnel.
