Kiewit Building Group Inc., a subsidiary of Kiewit Corporation, is constructing the Government Services Administration – U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Denver District Office. The 45,876-square-foot building is a core and shell, precast, superstructure with an architectural precast exterior, ribbon windows and a segmented curtain wall.
Kiewit self-performed the concrete foundation, topping slabs and tight work. Designed to meet LEED® Silver guidelines, the project's scope of work includes high energy performance curtain walls and window systems to minimize solar heat gain and maximize daylight, including exterior views for 90 percent of building occupants; a high performance mechanical system utilizing a ground source heat pump system and energy recovery units; native landscaping materials that require no irrigation system; and locally manufactured materials for the structure, exterior skin and interior finishes.
The building also includes a citizenship waiting area, support staff offices and cubicles, a training room, and a 3,000-square-foot conference room where the ceremonies to honor new United States citizens will be held.
