In the late 1930s, Kiewit expanded to the Rocky Mountain region with the establishment of the Denver District. The new district was created to accommodate projects required by the nation's participation in World War II. Based in Littleton, Colorado, the Denver District constructs projects stretching from the Canadian to the Mexican borders and from the Rocky Mountains to the central United States.

We build heavy civil and transportation projects, including highways, airports, mass transit systems, canals, dams and tunnels. With one of the largest equipment fleets in the region, we can mobilize to any location as a full-service construction team, capable of self-performing mass grading, drainage, bridge construction, aggregate production, paving, rail, and utility and telecommunications construction.

The Denver District conducts its operations primarily through Kiewit Western Co, Kiewit Southern Co. and Kiewit New Mexico Co., all subsidiaries of Kiewit Corporation.
