Sarah Anderson joined Kiewit in 2015. A native of Honey Creek, Iowa, she accepted a nomination to the United States Military Academy at West Point where she was a member of the women’s basketball team in the record-breaking 2005-06 season that led to an NCAA tournament berth.
After earning a degree in psychology with an emphasis in systems engineering and Spanish, she was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Army. Initially an air defense officer at Fort Bliss, Texas and Fort Sill, Okla., she subsequently served as an executive officer to Fort Sill’s Commander, then as commandant of the base Resiliency Training Center that serves 25,000 soldiers and their families.
Sarah retired from the Army in late 2014 at the rank of captain. She soon accepted a job with Kiewit and is now a district learning manager based in Englewood, Colo.
“I was drawn to Kiewit because its core values parallel the Army values. It was important for me to be a part of an organization that values its employees while maintaining high expectations and a commitment to excellence. Kiewit is that organization. I consider myself lucky to be a member of a team that challenges and supports each other daily to do the right things, the right way the first time, and never settle when we can do it better.”
