Phoenix Mine Copper Leach Expansion

Kiewit subsidiary, TIC, completed an expansion of the Phoenix Mine that updated the mine’s production value by modifying the existing operation to recover copper from material that had been classified as waste in previous processing efforts. The investment in each system ensures that the copper is processed to the greatest extent.

Major systems installed included heap leach facilities, solvent extraction/electrowinning plant, raffinate facility, tank farm and a pump house. The scope also included earthwork, concrete, structural steel, mechanical equipment, piping, electrical and instrumentation, and architectural finishes for the facility.
